Monitoring SIM card replacement on Android devices

You can use SIM Watch to receive notifications from Android devices when the SIM card is changed on the device. SIM Watch also lets you lock an Android device.

To lock a device when its SIM card is replaced, Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Android must be set as the device administrator. On devices running Android version 7.0 or later, Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Android must be set as an Accessibility feature. When the Initial Configuration Wizard is running, Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Android prompts the user to grant the application all required permissions. The user can skip these steps or disable these permissions in the device settings at a later time. If this is the case, it is impossible to lock the device when the SIM card is replaced.

SIM Watch is disabled by default.

To configure SIM Watch settings:

  1. In the console tree, in the Managed devices folder, select the administration group to which the Android devices belong.
  2. In the workspace of the group, select the Policies tab.
  3. Open the policy properties window by double-clicking.
  4. In the policy Properties window, select the Anti-Theft section.
  5. If you want the app to send a message with the new phone number to a specified phone number after the device SIM card has been replaced:
    1. Select the Enable SIM Watch check box.
    2. In the Send SMS to phone number field, specify the phone number of the message recipient. For example, you can specify the phone number of the administrator or the personal phone number of the user.

There is no longer support for sending messages containing the new phone number in Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Android Service Pack 4 Update 4 (Build 10.8.0.103). To have messages sent when the SIM card is replaced, you must use an earlier version of Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Android.

  6. If you want the app to lock the device when the SIM card is changed:
    1. Select the Lock device when SIM card is replaced check box.
    2. In the Text when locked field, enter the message to be displayed on the screen of the locked device.
  7. Click the Apply button to save the changes you have made.

Mobile device settings are configured after the next device synchronization with the Kaspersky Security Center.
