Using the program via the SNMP protocol

SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) is a protocol for managing network devices.

The SNMP protocol is used in Kaspersky Security 8 for Linux Mail Server as follows:

1. SNMP agent—Network management software module of Kaspersky Security 8 for Linux Mail Server, which monitors the operation of Kaspersky Security 8 for Linux Mail Server.
2. Kaspersky Security 8 for Linux Mail Server can send this information in the form of SNMP traps—program event notifications.

You can use the SNMP protocol to access the following information about Kaspersky Security 8 for Linux Mail Server:

• General information
• Runtime statistics of Kaspersky Security 8 for Linux Mail Server since the time of its installation
• Information about Kaspersky Security 8 for Linux Mail Server runtime events.

For example, Kaspersky Security 8 for Linux Mail Server sends SNMP traps in the following cases:

• The license is renewed.

  The SNMP trap contains the license number, license type, available functionality, and the license expiration date.

• Grace period of the license.

  The SNMP trap includes the number of the license and the number of days left until the grace period expires.

  An SNMP trap is sent when the grace period begins and subsequently once every 24 hours, and when Kaspersky Security 8 for Linux Mail Server is restarted.

Read-only access is granted.
