Creating a Strong Password

The Password Generator helps you to generate strong passwords. You start the Password Generator and configure the password generation settings. Kaspersky Password Manager generates a strong password for you.

You can use the Password Generator when:

By default, the application generates passwords consisting of 12 characters and containing uppercase and lowercase letters of the Latin alphabet, numerals, and special characters. You can select the symbols to be used by the application to generate the password.

When you change the password to a website, the application will automatically suggest saving the new password in the vault.

To create a strong password:

  1. Open the Password Generator window in one of the following ways:
    • In the main application window, click on and select Password Generator.
    • In the browser, click on and select Password Generator.
    • In the password field, click the icon and click on Create password in the new window.

    The Password Generator window opens, and the application starts generating a password with default settings.

  2. If you want the password to be generated with the use of only specific special characters, specify them in the entry field in the lower part of the window.
  3. If you do not want to use specific symbols in the password, clear the corresponding check box:
    • Uppercase letters (A-Z);
    • Lowercase letters (a-z);
    • Digits (0-9);
    • Special characters (~!@#$%^&*+-/.,\{}[]();:).

    The application automatically generates new passwords when the settings are changed and displays prompts about the strength of passwords that have been generated.

  4. Click the Copy button.

    The application will copy the generated password to the clipboard. You will be able to manually paste the password into the required field. If you are registering with or creating a password for a website, the application will automatically insert the created password into the appropriate field.
