Configuring network traffic protection

To configure protection of network traffic:

  1. In the program web interface window, select the Settings section, Protection subsection.
  2. In the Anti-Virus settings group:
    • Turn on the toggle switch next to the name of the Use heuristic analysis setting if you want to use heuristic analysis during anti-virus scans of network traffic.
    • Turn off the toggle switch next to the name of the Use heuristic analysis setting if you do not want to use heuristic analysis during anti-virus scans of network traffic.
  3. If you enable the use of heuristic analysis, in the Heuristic analysis level list, select one of the following heuristic analysis levels:
    • Light if you want to use the fastest heuristic analysis of scanned objects.
    • Medium if you want to use medium-speed and medium-depth heuristic analysis of scanned objects.
    • Deep, if you want to use the deepest heuristic analysis of scanned objects.

The Medium heuristic analysis level is selected by default.

  4. For the Enable detection of some legitimate applications setting, perform one of the following actions:
    • Select the Enable detection of some legitimate applications check box if you believe that such applications could be exploited by criminals to harm the computer network of your organization.
    • Clear the Enable detection of some legitimate applications check box if you do not believe that such applications could be exploited by criminals to harm the computer network of your organization.

Such legitimate applications include, for example, commercial remote administration utilities, IRC clients, dialers, file downloaders, computer system activity monitors, and password management utilities. If such applications are detected, they will be processed according to the rules for infected objects.

  5. In the Maximum scanning time (s) field, specify the time limit (in seconds) for scanning objects in network traffic.
  6. In the Maximum scanned level of archives field, specify the maximum nesting level for scanned archives.
  7. In the Anti-Phishing settings group:
    • Turn on the toggle switch next to the name of the Use heuristic analysis setting if you want to use heuristic analysis during anti-phishing scans of network traffic.
    • Turn off the toggle switch next to the name of the Use heuristic analysis setting if you do not want to use heuristic analysis during anti-phishing scans of network traffic.
  8. In the Maximum scanning time (s) field, specify the time limit (in seconds) for scanning objects in network traffic to detect phishing.
  9. Click Save.

The values of network traffic protection settings are saved.
