Special considerations when working with different versions of management plug-ins

You can use the Management Plug-in to change the following items:

You can manage Kaspersky Endpoint Security via Kaspersky Security Center only if you have a Management Plug-in whose version is equal to or later than the version specified in the information regarding the compatibility of Kaspersky Endpoint Security with the Management Plug-in. You can view the minimum required version of the Management Plug-in in the installer.ini file included in the distribution kit.

If any component is opened, the Management Plug-in checks its compatibility information. If the version of the Management Plug-in is equal to or later than the version specified in the compatibility information, you can change the settings of this component. Otherwise, you cannot use the Management Plug-in to change the settings of the selected component. It is recommended to upgrade the Management Plug-in.

Changing previously defined settings using a later version of the Management Plug-in

When you install Management plug-in for Kaspersky Endpoint Security 11.1 for Windows, Management plug-in for Kaspersky Endpoint Security 11 for Windows (build 11.0.0.6499) and Management plug-in for Kaspersky Endpoint Security 11 for Windows (build 11.0.1.90) are removed. Using Kaspersky Endpoint Security 11.1 for Windows plug-in, you can modify the settings of policies and policy profiles, created by the plug-ins of those versions.

After installation of plug-in for Kaspersky Endpoint Security 11.1 for Windows, it is recommended to change the settings of Kaspersky Endpoint Security 11 for Windows policies and policy profiles, starting with policies and policy profiles of the top hierarchy level, and use for this purpose the user account with access permissions for all functional areas of Kaspersky Security Center.

You can use a later version of the Management Plug-in to change previously defined settings, and configure new settings that were not present in your previously used version of the Management Plug-in.

For new settings, a later version of the Management Plug-in assigns the default values when a policy, policy profile, or task are saved for the first time.

If a new setting is added to the group of settings with either open or locked "lock" in Kaspersky Endpoint Security 11.1 for Windows, then the state of the "lock" is not changed for this group of settings.

After you change the settings of a policy, policy profile, or group task using a later version of the Management Plug-in, these components will become unavailable for previous versions of the Management Plug-in. The local settings of Kaspersky Endpoint Security and the settings of local tasks are still available for the Management Plug-in of previous versions.
